Homeware and DIY shops in and around Danderyd (because we can't get everything in our neighbourhood)

We have some lovely local homeware shops and a DIY store but for the most choice, a trip to Arninge/Täby (just north, a few minutes up the motorway) is best. The stores outside of Danderyd are marked with an asterisk*.

The top end of the furniture stores and a local company. The store has individual pieces plus their own range of fitted and free-standing furniture. Also has interior design services.

A lovely, small range of interior products including some bits of furniture plus an interior design service. The store also sells a good range of mid to top end womenswear.

This boutique is filled with lovely bits and pieces for the home and garden, plus a small selection of furniture. Lampshades, crockery, candles...it is always worth exploring.

A lovely mid/high-end boutique for gifts, crockery, napkins and some small bits of furniture. Often have pieces from France.

Lamps and vases are the things you get here. There are also a few pieces of furniture but this is really a clothes shop.

A second-hand curtain shop. Also make curtains and interior design services.

Hemtex is a chain and stocks bedding (including duvets and pillows), table linen, towels and curtains. It changes range often and colours change from season to season.

Our local department store though part of a big chain. Stocks a full range of homewares, clothes, beauty and children's things. Best source for fabric and things like sewing accessories.

As you can see from the opening hours, this is designed for professionals though it is fine to shop there for your own use. This is the place for insulation, wood, nails, bathroom fittings though check K-Rauta too.

Another place specifically designed for trades but can be shopped in by anyone. This place sells wood primarily, plus things like screws, nails and tools.

This is your main DIY store nearby, designed for normal people to shop in and has everything you might need, from lightbulbs to paint to kitchens. It isn't cheap. Pronounced 'kaw-r-ow-ta'!

This is a paint and wallpaper shop and is mainly designed for professionals to use. However, if you want a specific colour or type, they are very helpful and have samples of everything. K-Rauta will also make up pain colours.

Jula is a true hardware shop, selling bits for lighting, electrics, gardening, sailing (best place to buy life jackets!), tools etc. Also has a good Christmas lights selection.

Good value options (cheap stores...though mostly ok quality!)

Rusta is really inexpensive and has a random collection of homeware, some furniture, lighting, paint, carpet etc. then shampoo and sweets! It is a good source of bits for the garden and Christmas lights. Chain store.

Jysk is more dedicated to homeware than Rusta is and is also cheap but watch the quality. We've found the bedding and accessories fine but furniture is flat-pack and weak. But very cheap! Mattresses look reasonable. Chain store.

This is a proper 'cheap' store, with everything from rugs to toilet cleaner and a large selection of random food items. Good for cheap paint and party supplies.
Pronounced 'err-aw-be'! Chain store.
